Scenes from the Winter Garden, Mid-February
On the other side of the garden fence are California native wildflowers, sowed with care two years ago and rebounding for another year in the alley. Today I spotted the first lupine. It was a high moment in my day.
From my About page: Gardening is a creative, artistic process. The greens and lettuce in my garden are ordered by color and texture as well as by height. As Miss Rumphius says, it’s “to make the world more beautiful.”
Romanesco nearing harvest. Read my post from a year ago about Romanesco.
A robust stand of ‘Tango’ celery.
Purple sprouting broccoli.
Red cabbage, broccoli and Tuscan kale under bird netting to protect from unwelcome diners.
And at the end of the bed one of my favorite edgings. You might enjoy a recent post Flowers to Edge the Vegetable Garden.
