Spring's Beginnings
When warmth of springtime slackens winter’s glare
and earth from bitter bonds is free to breathe
infusions of fresh colors boldly weave
through nature’s living canvas, wild affair.
As instinct wakes the hibernating bear
while like a compass, birds fly south to leave
a native chorus rises to receive
a primal song of life known everywhere.
With bold awakening from winter’s cave
transformed from frozen chrysalis of cold
a young cub ventures forth with virgin steps.
Against a crusty shell, a young beak breaks
escapes his fortress, pushing out so bold
now free, finds comfort in his mother’s breast.
