Scenes from the Summer Garden, early July

Recently, I read that when the corn silks appear the harvest is 17 to 24 days in the future. It seems I could stand in the garden and watch it grow.

The nectaplum tree is laden with fruit that will be ready soon. More about this fruit when we begin the harvest.

The ‘San Francisco Fog’ tomatoes are coming along but would like a break from the May gray and June gloom.

Bees seem to be finding the zucchini plants.

Bell peppers would like some warm weather too.

Arugula does well in successive plantings in a 12-inch container and gets morning sun and afternoon shade.

And the zinnias make me smile every time I pass by.
