Beetroot Salad
It was one of our first nights in England, just about a month ago. We were on our own for dinner this evening of our Rick Steves England and Wales Tour. Wandering about the city of Bath we eyed the posted menu and made the necessary booking (as they say in the UK). The Scallop Shell did not disappoint.
Etched in my culinary memory will be the starter English Beetroot Salad. I was enchanted with the menu description:
ENGLISH BEETROOT SALAD with pickled red onions, apple, creamed goats’ cheese & muscatel dressing (V)
I have the garden beets, now to reconstruct.
My husband had the CRISP FRIED SALT COD FISHCAKE with tomato vinaigrette and lemon aioli and after a shared bite I determined it was made with equal skill and aplomb.
