Isn’t it fun to grow vegetables you can’t find at the grocery store or in this case, possibly your farmers’ market?

I’ll do a post on the yellow, edible-podded snow peas sometime soon. Maybe in time for northern gardeners to send a rush order for seeds and plant this spring.

It’s side shoot season in the broccoli bed. This year they are chunky, large and plentiful. ‘Premium Crop’ produces side shoots reliably in my garden. Likely more rain this season up-sized the side shoots.

Here’s the basket my daughter-in-law, Sarah took home yesterday: Tuscan kale, arugula flowers for salad garnishes, ‘Red Frills’ mustard, mint, broccoli, snow peas and calendula flowers

Cutting celery yields crisp, flavorful stalks whenever needed. I used the diagonal cuts for chicken-broccoli chowder this past weekend. No limp celery languishing in the fridge.

Here’s my first truly spring bouquet. Scabiosa, freesia, feverfew, babiana, yarrow and snowflakes showed up this week.
