Our Brittany, Lucy cornered this little guy (about 12 inches long) in the kitchen late yesterday. My husband was able to coax him back out the open door. He stopped in the waning daylight for a photo shoot and to warm up. After about five minutes he headed off to the front yard.
I hope he comes back. I almost stepped on him a few weeks ago in my vegetable garden as he scooted behind some pots. I was happy to have him as a guest or resident figuring his diet would be insects I don’t need in the garden.
I checked on the University of California IPM website and found that lizards in California generally feed on beetles, ants, wasps, aphids, grasshoppers, and spiders. I’d especially like fewer ants and brown widow spiders.
So hurry back my reptile friend.
