NURTURING RAIN
Dan Gibson’s Solitudes
This morning, before work, I made provision for the rain. I set out the rain barrels to capture garage roof runoff, removed the cover to the compost bin, tucked a few things away in the garden shed. I surveyed the lettuce and arugula seedlings, the emerging sweet peas, tiny beets and radishes, the purple sprouting broccoli.
I listened to a selection from Nurturing Rain this morning while driving to work. I concluded that nurturing rain is just what my fall garden needed.
Rain came as expected today and continues even this evening. My rain barrels are nearly full; three hundred gallons of rainwater captured to grow the Second Season Garden.
