Walking an older neighborhood in Santa Barbara last weekend, I found an edible front yard garden with espaliered apple trees forming a living fence atop the garden wall.
The garden designer probably hoped for a little more homeowner attention to training the trees but they appeared healthy and productive. Alpine strawberries grew under the trees.
